The Junior BME Program is organized by the Biomedical Engineering Society at the University of California, Irvine and is aimed at high school students interested in biomedical sciences and/or engineering. The goal of the program is to expose students to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) field while teaching important communication, academic, and research skills. This is done by hosting a number of events in the program throughout the year including seminars with professionals in STEM, engineering tutorials, and college application workshops. We aim to help students of all backgrounds discover science and engineering while providing them with some of the tools helpful for success in these fields if they choose to pursue them and guide eager students in applying to colleges. There are no charges or fees for our program in an effort to give all students an equal opportunity to get involved.

Should I join the Junior BME program? Are you interested in science and engineering? Do you want to learn some basic coding? Do you want to explore the STEM field? Do you want to get advice from local college students?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the Junior BME program is a great fit for you!
What happens in the program? Students will attend biweekly meetings hosted by local UC Irvine students starting October, all in person this year! These meetings will include panels, workshops, and fun project tutorials.
