The Jr. BME program was started by BMES at UCI in the spring of 2021 as an effort to get students ready for applying to college in biomedical engineering or any other field of interest. Students do not have to have an interest in STEM to participate in our program but most events will be aimed towards learning skills that are useful in science and engineering disciplines.
Program Benefits Students will be able to explore many disciplines within STEM and be able to ask professionals and students questions about their work in the field. In engineering workshops, students will be introduced to common skills used in the field such as learning how to code, learning how to utilize CAD software, basic device building, and basic circuitry and biology knowledge.
Please Note: Many of our workshops will require students to have a personal laptop brought with them, as they will be expected to download the software utilized before the listed workshop date. Chromebooks will not be sufficient, as many of the programs we use are unable to run on Chromebooks.
